"Speak Up" is a collection of archives that took a look at the top 25 movies of all time and the color palettes used in the movie posters. Movies rated above G predominately use dark colors in their posters; black being the most used color. Most would think that utilizing a dark palette gives off a gloomy and depressing vibe, yet there must be something to their theory. They first looked each category of movies from G thru R. The posters were then categorized by the overall background color, one or two of the most visible colors, and one or two accent colors. They were then arranged via their gradients and on a horizontal bar. Only 11 posters out of the 25 contained black as their predominant color, and 7 utilizing a dark-hued color. 7 other posters have lighter backgrounds, with 5 of those the color being blue. Only 1 poster, Toy Story 2, used white as a background color.
