Uncontrol.com has created an application called "Commentary" that monitors and visualizes discussion groups in the form of an exploded pie chart. Aspects like amount of words and replies monitors how busy a particular discussion is. Even heated debated and reactions, whether good are bad, are taken into account. Each slice of the pie chart represents a comment made, and the comment's word count is represented by the width, the amount of replies by the length, and the reaction by color.
