Color Ultrasound

One disadvantage of grayscale ultrasounds is the ability to distinguish easily exactly what is being seen on the screen. By introducing color, it increases the contrast of the image as well as making it easier to interpret. The color shown however is not the actual color in the body, but different elements are assigned a color. The color is assigned according to various patterns or frequency, whether it the flow of blood or distinguishing between types of tissue. One of the main goals of this technology is to reduce the need for biopsies for diagnosis. By being able to distinguish between minute details and differences, it will save money for the patient, as well as reduce the number of diagnostic procedures.
