In march of 2009 the first release of Spatial Key was released. Spatial key is used as an Information Visualization, Mapping, Analysis, and Reporting System. The software is actually a web application that allows one to analyze and assess data trends accordingly to a time period and its given location (geotemporal).
By analyzing data trends a user can evaluate criteria based on their goals for example; market value, crime, lot sizes, living area square footage, output of oil rigs, and etc. A specific example that I found was a 2009 book sales report. This example is represented by showing a heat map. Once entering the data the user has a variety of filtering options that will best depict the data for the desired application. The interface of the application allows for either representing the data in a heat map or a heat grid.
By zooming in on a location the heat map will change in its appearance and show the aggregation of data in that location.
The use of this application can be efficiently used throughout many demographics. By presenting the user with a variety of options to compile data and apply them to a interface will allow analysis through a flexible and adaptable manner. This enables them to not only see what current trends are occurring, but to also tweak the data to speculate occurrences that have yet to transpire.
